The “Rock the Wood,’ block party is part of a citywide collaborative of eight organizations including Kids Off the Block, Fierce Over 40, and R.A.G.E. to decrease violence among youth during Chicago’s summer months by hosting peaceful events on the same date & time for maximum impact called Summer In The Streets. Rock the Wood is also part of the Englewood Public Safety Task Force’s summer “Rock the Beat” event series which are community-intervention, peacful responses to blocks experiencing increased gun violence in Englewood within the 725 Police beat.
